It’s finally time to break out the swim suits and sunscreen. After a long Midwest winter, summer has officially arrived at Pearl Lake Beach, South Beloit, Illinois..
Pearl Lake was once a sand quarry owned and developed by Mike and Cheryl Witte. After 50 years, the Wittes sold their property to Zeman Homes. It was purchased by Lance Beatch in 2023. Beatch also owns Fox Bluff Cottages and RVs in Yorkville, IL.
Pearl Lake Beach has been completely renovated. Now in its second season under new ownership, several new amenities have been added, including additional camping and RV sites (with full hook-up). Overnight, monthly and seasonal camping is available.
The property is on 207 acres. It includes an eight-acre soft sand beach, a 50-acre crystal clear lake and recently renovated club house/bar and bathhouse.
Manager Ginger Smith said sunset weddings on the beach are becoming popular. The lower level of the clubhouse has been converted into a wedding preparation area, with separate dressing areas for the bride and groom and their friends, plus restrooms and a ping pong room.
Other new amenities are an inflatable (Wibit) floating waterpark, beach pavilions, water and beach volleyball, paddle boats and a playground.
According to Smith, custom-ordered waterfront seasonal cottages, built onsite, are now available for purchase.
Access to the beach is included in seasonal camping rates (April 15-October 15) which includes park models and campers.
Daily beach passes are available at $20 per person. Children age 2 and under are free. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Non-motorized boats and scuba diving are allowed.
Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beverages. Live music on the deck and food trucks are featured on weekends.
There are no lifeguards on the beach property.
Pearl Lake is located at 1220 Dearborn St. South Beloit, convenient to Beloit, Janesville, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 90 miles from Chicago, Illinois
