Northern Illinois Toy Show - Sat Oct 19 8:00 am

Life Church

8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Join us for our first show of the fall 2024 season. We will have over 60 tables of toys. The majority of our vendors will have diecast for sale but we try to encourage them to bring a variety of toys. If you are interested in vending contact Darri Busker at 815-624-6600. Admission is $3 with 15 & under free of charge. There will be concessions available with all proceeds benefiting Life Church. Frenchman's Frolic - Sat Oct 19 9:00 am

Macktown Living History

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Free, open to the public. This is your year to wander through the pre-1850s era encampment of participants in period clothing. At the oldest settlement of Winnebago County, old Macktown, you are likely to see pioneers, trappers, traders, voyageurs, and native Americans milling around the grounds, pursuing everyday activities from the early days. You'll see a two-man saw, log cabin building (kids too), and dowel making, and many presenters ready to teach. [more details]


Jaime Cox Memorial Run 5K - Sat Oct 19 10:00 am

Roscoe Middle School

Roscoe's biggest 5K. Our 7th nature based 5K Run/Walk or 2 mile walk will begin at Roscoe Middle School (RMS). The route proceeds west to the historic Stone Bridge Trail before turning south as you continue to pound the crushed limestone path. You will reach the halfway point, turn around and return to RMS. [more details]


Macktown Summer Workshop: Make and Take an 1850s Leather Pocketbook - Sat Oct 19 12:00 pm

12 -5 p.m.  $55 per person. Here is an opportunity to “make and take” your own period pocketbook, using patterns from a dated 1856 pocketbook available for review. Leather tri-fold pocketbooks with multiple compartments were widely used by both women and men during the early 19th Century to carry bills, business papers, letters, money, and related items. Instructor Norman Walzer has done leatherwork and shoe/boot making exhibitions for 50 years or more and was tutored at Old Sturbridge Village. [more details]
