Every year since 2008, athletes from Roscoe, Rockton and beyond look forward to competing in the annual Prairie Triathlon at North Pointe Health and Wellness. This year’s triathlon and relay race was held Saturday, June 8, 2024. This is the 16th year of the annual event.
Starting at 8 a.m., triathlon and relay competitors began the first of three events, biking through a 17-mile scenic country road course, swimming 350 yards (seven laps) in the Wellness Center pool, and running a 3.1-mile loop on the Wellness Center campus trail.
In addition to single triathlon participants, the day included a triathlon relay, with three team competitors (any age, all fitness levels) completing either the biking, swimming or running event.
A Fun Fair on the North Pointe grounds kept little ones occupied throughout the morning. with Pickles the Clown twisting balloons into animal shapes, a couple of popular bounce houses, sweet treats, a smoking fire house from the Harlem Roscoe Fire Department, games and a raptor display from Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab.
Race entry fees benefit the Stateline Boys and Girls Club.
