Holy humor, community events, another hearing

Sunday in Roscoe, Rockton, and South Beloit - with news and events from Rockton-Roscoe News.
- First Congregational Community Church in Roscoe is celebrating holy humor today at 10 a.m. That means a joke filled, laughter filled worship service. You can join in the fun by dressing in mismatched clothes, loud clothes, or even inside out! Ladies, got a crazy hat? Men, a crazy tie or shirt? It’s time to bust them out and wear them to the silliest worship service of the year! Stay afterwards for a church "shower" complete with cake. The church has met at 10780 3rd Street at Broad Street in Roscoe, across from Leland Park, since about 1843.
- Matthew D. Barnett, the Roscoe man charged with robbing a bank in Belvidere in November, has another pretrial hearing scheduled on Wednesday, Apr. 30 at Boone County Courthouse. He has been free since shortly after his arrest, the judge ruling that he was not a flight risk nor a threat to society. And sure enough, the 41-year-old man continues showing up for hearings voluntarily. But he no longer lives in Chicory Ridge.
