The Wagon Wheel Resort Remembered

Open to the public. Free presentation by Gary Glaser, Wagon Wheel historian, with old and newly discovered memories of the resort. The Museum has numerous articles in our Wagon Wheel collection and new items are added regularly.

What started as a small hamburger stand grew into a premier entertainment venue in Northern Illinois during the mid-1900's in the small village of Rockton.

Learn about the history of the Wagon Wheel Resort, the people who made it possible, and some of the interesting stories from that time. Walt Williamson's Wagon Wheel Resort included numerous restaurants, gift shops, a swimming pool, ice rink, theater, airstrip and much more before its demise due to changing times, fire and neglect.

The Rockton Township Historical Society Museum has numerous artifacts in the Wagon Wheel collection.
