In a “smash and grab” robbery at the Sunnyside Cannabis Dispensary in South Beloit on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023 about 5:24 a.m., South Beloit Police Dept says a white GMC pickup truck backed through the store's front doors, but the thieves weren't able to get into their cannabis vault.

The Village of Roscoe board of trustees has decided to revert to the traditional October 31 date for trick-or-treating after a two-year trial of holding it on the preceding Saturday.
Trustees Stacy Mallicoat and Justin Plock expressed reservations about paying a legal invoice from Ancel Glink, the law firm hired to handle a lawsuit against the Village involving a zoning change that these trustees didn't vote for.
The board confirmed appointments for Alan Harbut and Roger Needham on the Police Pension Board. The appointments were made to other boards during recent meetings.[more]
