Vote Laurie Dixon for Prairie Hill School Board on Tuesday, April 4th!

My name is Laurie Dixon, and I am running to be a member of the Prairie Hill School District school board. The election is on April 4th, and I would appreciate your vote!

A little about me:  I have three wonderful boys, Jacob (9), Ryan (4), and Connor (2). My husband and I have been thrilled with our children’s experience as students at Prairie Hill. PHSD is truly the best of the best.

I was a teacher at Willowbrook Middle School in the Prairie Hill District for 12 years. I mostly taught 6th grade Literature, 6th grade Advanced Literature, and 6th - 8th Spanish. I loved the students dearly and worked with incredibly talented, dedicated teachers. Throughout my years at WMS, I served as a Vice President of the teacher’s union, a veteran teacher mentor to new teachers in the Mentor Program, a PLC mentor to the staff as we transitioned to the Professional Learning Community model, an ELA team leader, the teacher representative for the PSA, and was on numerous committees. I coached JV Volleyball and the Poms team and was the advisor for the Spanish Club and Chess Club. I also won the Golden Apple Education award and was recognized by the Illinois State Education department with an award for excellence in team collaboration. Additionally, I earned my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Two years ago, I began staying home with my children. I’ve remained involved in education through Golden Apple events, the PHS PSA, and my son’s Cub Scout Pack as the fundraiser chair. I’ve loved being able to volunteer and help with my children’s classes.

I believe my experience, passion for education, and love for the Prairie Hill School district makes me an excellent candidate for the school board. I would greatly appreciate your vote on April 4th!
