IHSA 7A Football Bracket - home team Hononegah is a #7 seed against Willowbrook

The IHSA Football Playoffs are celebrating 50 years. Well, the Hononegah Indians get the Willowbrook Warriors in the opening round of play in the IHSA 7A football brackets. The Warriors come into the matchup against Hononegah 6-3 & 5-1 in the West Suburban Gold conference and finished second just one game behind conference champion Downers Grove South

The recent history between Hononegah and Willowbrook is just a year old as Hononegah steamrolled the Warriors in round 2 of the 2023 IHSA football playoffs 44-0.

A quick look at Willowbrook shows that they like to run a high tempo, spread offense much the like of the old Chip Kelly Oregon teams from the early to mid 2000s. On defense they run a 4-3 while playing zone on the back end of the defense. If they are going to rush the QB, it will come from one of their linebackers.

Finally, this looks to be a good matchup in round 1 for the Indians as they have recently played the Warriors, have some good film on them, and understand the tempo with which they play.

I’ll bring you more thoughts on the game between Hononegah and Willowbrook as this week goes on. As of this writing, the day of the game hasn’t been set. Check Hononegah Football on all social media for the day and time of the game.
