On Monday, June 3, 2024, the City of South Beloit commissioners had a second reading on the proposed 1% sales tax which was approved by voters in March. They also considered a proposal from Fehr Graham Engineering for replacement of the Hayes Avenue sanitary sewer mains and the Roadway Reconstruction Project. They also discussed a request from The Rusty Wheel to close the parking lot for a bags league on Thursdays - the Wheel shares some parking with the South Beloit City Hall. The Knights of Columbus is asking for approval for a car show at St. Peter’s Didier Hall parking lot on August 24, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The commissioners also talked about a potential tax rebate program for new residential construction.

The Village of Rockton held a special Village Board meeting on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget. At Tuesday's meeting, the board is expected to approve an agreement between the Village and Hononegah Community High School District No. 207 regarding water main relocation improvements. They are also expected to approve fireworks for Old Settler’s Days on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The Village of Roscoe's regular meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 should be non-controversial this week. They are expected to approve a special event permit for the Screw City Flex Series #4 Disc Golf event on Sunday June 23, 2024 at Porter Park Disc Golf Course. About 60-100 participants are expected, part of a series of tournaments in northern Illinois. And for several years, the Rock Valley Radio Control Flying Club has flown model planes over the water at Chicory Ridge Park. They plan to have a boat to "retrieve any planes that may not land properly" but usually everything is radio-controlled. The organizers have applied for a special event permit for August 24, 2024.

After the regular meeting, the Village's Committee of the Whole will consider a special event permit for Top Prospects Inaugural Charity Bowl, which is planned for July 13, 2024 at Riverside Park.  This free event would resemble the NFL Pro Bowl, where young athletes from 1st grade to 9th grade will compete in various football drills and competitions, coached by four recent Hononegah football standouts.
