Seniors Syncere Fane and Desmond Hampton have both been a part of a South Beloit boys basketball program that has racked up 85 wins and 21 losses in their time on the team. They also attained a 27-5 conference record and never finishing lower than 3rd in the standings.

Besides contributing to success on the court, both young men are high performers in the classroom as well. Both are on the honor roll for South Beloit High School.

Thursday night was Senior Night for them at South Beloit High School. With dozens and dozens of friends, family, and other South Beloit fans in attendance, they were introduced and gave thanks to all those who have made their time at South Beloit so special. They gave thanks to God, their family, teammates, coaches, teachers, and fans.

Once the ball got tipped, the Lena-Winslow team partially spoiled the evening of celebrating all the players and the dance/cheerleading seniors, by taking down the SOBOs 55-24.

The Lena-Winslow Panthers opened the first quarter by outscoring the SOBOs 20-9 and finished the first half with a 38-12 halftime lead. Both teams played a stellar 3rd quarter set of defense, with the SOBOs gaining a 9-6 advantage on the scorebook in the quarter. It all led to the winning score of 55-24 for the Lena-Winslow Panthers.

The boys 1A IHSA playoffs start for South Beloit SOBOs on Monday evening from South Beloit High School. SOBOs begin playoff play against 13-seed Stockton. South Beloit is the 3-seed in the Hanover (River Ridge) Sectional.

Thanks to Dan Morgan II, the South Beloit Boys Basketball Team and the IHSA for information for the story.
