South Beloit sends its senior class out with a girls basketball home win

South Beloit Senior McKenah Tyrrel takes a short jumper against the Juda Panthers in the Senior night contest.

South Beloit held the 2023-2024 girls basketball senior night and got a home non-conference victory over the Juda Panthers. With the 39-30 win the SOBOs improved to 13-12 on the season. This is quite an accomplishment for this group of four seniors. Four years ago the seniors walked into a struggling South Beloit program. The four seniors now have set the table for what Coach Steven Picavet believes will be an increase in athletes and an increase in desire to be a part of a winning culture.

From my research, the last time South Beloit had 12 wins in a season was 15 years ago. The 39-30 victory sends this class off in style and sets up the SOBOs for the Northeastern conference tourney this weekend -followed by what hopefully will be a nice postseason tournament run for South Beloit.

This being the first time I have watched South Beloit in person this season, I was impressed by the passion and physical style these girls bring to the court. No matter if it was in the first quarter or the final minute of the game, if they could grab, claw, or crawl for the ball, they were on it.
