Christmas services in Rockton and Roscoe

Most churches and many other groups in the Stateline area have planned special services and events for Christmas, especially since Christmas falls on a Sunday - Dec. 25, 2022 - and Christmas Eve is on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022.

Rockton

Old Stone Church, 101 E Union St, Rockton: Christmas Eve service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022. No Sunday morning service.

Rockton United Methodist Church, 102 W. Chapel Street, Rockton: Candlelight Christmas Eve at 4 p.m., Christmas Day worship at 9:30 a.m. includes Lessons and Christmas carols.

Church by the Side of the Road, 500 S Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton: At the 27th annual Christmas Candlelight service on Sunday evening, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m., Neala Jensen and Chip Messinger are returning to share their musical talents. As always the church will be lovingly decorated in celebration of Jesus's birth through the telling of the Christmas story in song, Bible verses and the singing of Christmas carols.

River Chapel, 14053 Nazarene Dr., Rockton: Everyone is invited to Christmas Eve services on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2336 Freeport Rd, Rockton: Christmas Eve services on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. will include Bible readings, a message, Holy Communion, and Christmas hymns. The Christmas Day service starts at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25. 

Williams Tree Farm, 4661 Yale Bridge Rd., Rockton: the Pyro Musical (Firework Celebration) is Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. They will close their season on Dec 18 with Christmas caroling at 4:30 p.m..

St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 511 W Rockton Rd, Rockton: Two services will be held on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 - a children's Christmas program (without Holy Communion) at 6 p.m. and Traditional Divine Service & Candlelight at 8 p.m. Christmas Day will feature an 8 a.m. Traditional Divine Service and a 10:45 a.m. Contemporary Divine Service.

A Light in the Window: Stars & Promises Christmas Tour, Hononegah Performing Arts Center, 307 Salem Street, Rockton: Singer, songwriter and guitarist Peter Mayer and his world-class seven-piece band will give a 23rd anniversary benefit concert on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 7:00 p.m., presented by Roscoe United Methodist Church. Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rock Valley, 329 School Street, Rockton: At 10:30 a.m., an "informal Christmas Morning Service will be all wrapped up in boxes and together we will unwrap them and create our service as we do so."

First Congregational Community Church, 10780 3rd St, Roscoe: Christmas Eve will feature Carols and Lessons at 5 p.m. and a Christmas Day Brunch Potluck with service at 10 a.m.

Life Church, 5910 Elevator Rd., Roscoe: The annual Christmas Concert is back in the building this year on Sunday, Dec. 18, 6-7 p.m. Join a night of new and classic Christmas songs - a fun event to celebrate the season. They are moving their regular Sunday morning services, for this weekend only, to Saturday morning, Dec. 24 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. So, no in-person meeting on Christmas Day.

Hope Church, 5656 Elevator Rd. Roscoe: The church is going Christmas caroling four times: sign up for Thursday, Dec. 15; Monday, Dec. 19; and/or Wednesday, Dec.  21, 2022. They will hold two Christmas Eve Services on Saturday, Dec.  24, either at 2:30 p.m. or 4 m., and one Christmas Day Service on Sunday, Dec. 25, at 9:30 a.m. No registration required.

Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St., Roscoe: Christmas Eve children's worship will be at 5 p.m., followed by two Christmas Eve worship services, 7 - 8 p.m. and 9-10 p.m. No Sunday morning service is scheduled.

Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, 7404 Elevator Rd., Roscoe: The church choir will be presenting their Christmas Cantata on Sunday, December 18, at one worship service at 9:30 a.m. Christmas Eve candlelit worship will be Saturday, Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

New Life Tabernacle, 5414 Reimer Dr, Roscoe: "Join us on Christmas morning at 10 a.m. to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ."

Heritage Baptist Church, 12848 Willowbrook Rd., Roscoe: In this year's children’s Christmas program, on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 5 p.m., join Sammy and Sally on a Christmas Adventure as they head back in time and discover the Nativity was not how they imagined it! You are invited to celebrate the joy and promise of our Savior’s birth through music and drama. Featuring children’s choir, chimes and drama. Free admission. Nursery provided, light refreshments following the program.
