Family, friends and community are coming together to “Kick It For Vic” on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the South Beloit Businessman's Hall at 525 Washington St., in South Beloit.

Vic Schoonover is a 1995 graduate of South Beloit High School and a 1999 graduate of Beloit College. He served two years in Americorps on the south side of Chicago.

Schoonover was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at Christmastime which has metastasized to his liver. Following his diagnosis, he began chemotherapy which has been working to shrink the tumors.

Starting at 1 p.m. you can enjoy chicken and biscuits, made by Mary's at $12 a plate while taking a chance on 50/50 or prize raffles such as a Blackstone Grill with a meat certificate, an iPad, a craft beer wagon, a black diamond ring, tickets to Old Settlers Days, and much more.

Over 75 raffle baskets plus larger items will offer something for everyone to take a chance on winning.

Schoonover taught in the Rockford School District and is currently subbing in the Winnebago School District. He is married to Jennifer, who owns the Huntington Learning Center in Rockford. Vic also does marketing for the center.  They have a 13 year old son named Henry.

Friends say that anywhere he sees a need, or might be called to help, Schoonover never thinks twice about lending a hand to help others.

Donations can be made out to Vic Schoonover Cancer Benefit at 830 Westerfield Way in South Beloit, c/o Clark Schoonover.

Please come out to show loving support for Vic as he continues to “kick It” in the fight against cancer.
