Janice Kumm (1948-2022)

Janice N. Kumm, 74, of Roscoe, Illinois, spent most of her life as a bookkeeper for a trucking company, and later became the office manager. She was born on September 20, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Nellie Myers and Milton Christoffersen. She was raised in Lake in the Hills, where her mother later became village treasurer.

Janice passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, Illinois.

Jan loved to spend time with family. She always spoiled her grandkids and great grandkids. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Jan loved giving gifts and having the whole family around her. Jan was truly the life of the party. She enjoyed fishing, listening to live music, and going on trips to the casino.

She was always happy to head out on a day trip and believed in a glass of wine a day. In addition to her day trips, she loved winter getaways to Florida. In the mornings, Jan would watch the birds and enjoy her cup of coffee while admiring her flower garden. She also loved to buy random scratch-off tickets. Like her mother, Jan loved to read.

Jan is survived by her husband, Timothy Kumm; children, Kim Bordenaro (John), Chris Schultz, and Melissa Elliott; grandchildren, Mike (Lisi) Bordenaro, Matt Bordenaro, Sarah Bordenaro (Patrick), Mark (Katie) Schultz, Lance (Kaylyn) Schultz, Nick (Dae) Schultz, Sylvia (Jared) Kern, Brandon (Kayleigh) Elliott, and Jake Elliott; great-grandchildren, Cooper Schultz, Tyler Schultz, and Liam Schultz; son-in-law, Steve Elliott.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 4- 8:00 p.m. at the Belvidere VFW Post 1461, 1310 W. Lincoln Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois 61008. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Road, Loves Park, Illinois 61111.
