With Stateline weather that feels as if it's over 100 degrees, the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning continuing Wednesday until Thursday night, Aug. 24, 2023. They say, "Oppressive and dangerous heat and humidity will occur today, with peak afternoon heat indices around 112 to 118."

Roscoe United Methodist Church has set up a cooling center at 10816 Main Street, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Village of Roscoe says, "They have plenty of space, A/C will be cranking, and will have cold water on hand... Please try to stay indoors during the hottest periods of the day, stay hydrated, and be sure to check on loved ones (pets too)."

As the heat warning ends Thursday night, August 24, Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management will be spraying for mosquitos throughout the Village of Roscoe, sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. The Village says, "If you have questions or wish to be on Clarke's auto call list to be notified of spraying schedules, please calling the Clarke Mosquito Hotline 1-800-942-2555."

The Rockton River Market is still on for Wednesday night, but they say, "we may be a bit lighter on vendors... Please make the best decision for yourself and loved ones on whether you should be out in the heat. With only two markets left, we want to give as many opportunities yet to enjoy live music at Settlers Park, but please be smart..." Scheduled musician Bree Morgan says, "Bring some water and wear the dang shorts." There will be no bounce house for the kids.
