Rockton public artist has completed 14 murals so far
Hononegah graduate and environmental designer Asia Peters is also recording her first album.
Rockton resident Asia Michaela Peters creates art on a large scale.
The 2014 Hononegah graduate shares, “I have landed on mural painting because I'm transforming entire spaces into artistic, sensual experiences. I find myself repainting and redecorating my own living space almost constantly, for the joy of making myself and people who visit me more comfortable and entertained.”
Peters is ready to give someone else the same experience.
She is looking to beautify interiors and exteriors through detailed, high quality, custom murals, while incorporating even more options into her scope of work.
Most of Peter's work is concentrated in Rockford. During the summer months she has created exterior murals in downtown Rockford including one at Davis Park, another in Artist Alley- near the Rockford Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB), one in the Norwegian Lofts building, and at Fisher Community Pollinator Garden which Peters is designing and implementing at 804 Haskell Ave.
Peters also crafted a mini mural at Wired Cafe for Smash Art Studio in downtown Rockford. In that project, which covers broken windows for businesses waiting for repairs, she implemented the “broken window” effect.
She has completed eight interior and six exterior murals to date.
Peters says, “I took as many art electives as I could at HCHS. I then went on to the University of Colorado Boulder to study Environmental Design, which introduced me to architecture, interior design, and landscape design,” Peters said.
As a college student, Peters studied art and design in Copenhagen, Denmark. “Since college I have pursued environmental design, graphic design, marketing and most recently public art opportunities,” Peters adds.
“I have been interested in art for as long as I can remember. Both of my parents are very creative and introduced me to painting very early on,” Peters said.
Peters paints with the highest quality interior or exterior paint. “I often mix my own colors and apply my designs with a paintbrush, and a steady hand.”
She is also available for full interior redesign projects, whether working with furniture, houseplants, renovation, or decoration.
“I am obsessed with color, pattern, lighting and plants,” she says.
Peters is not the only talented member of her family. Her brothers are carpenters, the “Bros Who Know LLC Handyman Service.” Together, this family unit can execute just about any home project imaginable, covering both interior or exterior needs.
Peters' website at www.terrainvague.space contains a portfolio with her artwork, unique designs, and contact information. Her business Facebook and Instagram handle is @terrainvague.rkfd. Her personal Instagram page is @asiaiaisa, and potential clients can email her at asiathemaker@gmail.com.
Besides creating visual art, Peters also loves to sing. “I started performing in 2022 and I am currently embarking on my first album,” she said.
