As we previously reported, the total project involves two box culverts which were to be replaced east and west of Illinois 2 on Gleasman Road. In October and November 2022, the first box culvert was replaced adjacent to the railroad elevated bridge near the Prairie Ridge subdivision east of Old River Road and the Atwood Homestead Forest Preserve.
In March 2022, County Engineer Carlos Molina told us that the total cost for both culvert replacements was estimated to be $980,000. The Federal share would be $784,000 and the Winnebago County share would be $196,000.
