On July 18, 2023, the Harlem-Roscoe Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Fire Chief Patrick Trollop. Following the resignation, the Board of Trustees appointed John Bergeron as the Acting Chief until a permanent replacement is selected.
During a ceremony on Monday, July 24, 2023, acting Fire Chief John Bergeron and Deputy Chief of Operations Kevin Briggs helped Harlem-Roscoe Fire trustees Bart Munger, John Donahue, and Al Bach as they recognized several promotions:
- Battalion Chief Jeff Grant to Division Chief of Training
- Capt. Mike Huffman to Battalion Chief
- Firefighter Cecilia Young to Lieutenant
- Six were sworn in as probationary firefighters:
- Three firefighters were given their black helmets

Jill Rae Finally Art's painting camp was once more a hit with young artists, offering four days of creative exploration and skill-building. The camp, led by instructor Cassie Branecki, provided students with painting lessons, including canvas paintings, alcohol inks on Yupo paper, and watercolors. The gallery will have more summer camps in the following weeks. Next week is Sculpture Camp for the younger kids and Multi-Media Camp for the older kids.

The 2023 Wild Ones of Rock River Valley’s member-only picnic was hosted by Greg and Karen Ruffner at their Old Goat Farm in Roscoe. Trickey, Pheasants Forever Farm, Bill Wildlife Biologist, taught about the oak savanna and prairie restorations on the land. The Wild Ones also enjoyed a catered picnic lunch, community, and touring the restored historic barns.
