Meet Randy Johnson: candidate for Rockton Township Supervisor
Randy Johnson

Randy Johnson, a current Rockton Township trustee, is now running for Township Supervisor in the April 1 election. Check out all our candidate profiles in our expanded 2025 Election Guide for Roscoe, Rockton, and South Beloit.

I am a current Rockton Township Trustee elected in 2017. I am running for Rockton Township Supervisor in the April election to continue to serve the residents of Rockton Township. Our Township needs committed, motivated and experienced representation. I appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community where my wife and I raised our family.

My career was in newspapers. I am the former publisher of an independent weekly community newspaper and general manager of Rock Valley Publishing. My wife, family and I have lived in Rockton for 30 years with a deep-rooted knowledge of the needs of our area. I would like to continue to serve the residents of Rockton Township as your Township Supervisor. My business management experience and knowledge of our community will continue to be an asset in making sound board decisions.

During my career I have been active in numerous community service organizations and various local government offices. I have worked regularly with the county clerk, county assessor, county treasurer and board of elections. My community service includes serving on various committees of the newspaper association, Rockton (now Stateline) Chamber of Commerce former vice-president and many years as board member, Parks Chamber of Commerce board secretary and served on the Parks Economic Development Corporation board, Charter Vice President of the Optimist Club and Treasurer of a Commercial Development Board.

I am very proud of the aid we provide to our residents in need through our general welfare assistance. A short-term safety net when between jobs or during illness. A financial aid program for those not qualified for categorical assistance. Low-income energy assistance through the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Emergency financial assistance can include rent and water bill assistance.

It is important we support our residents' concerns over future developments and annexations. We maintain roads and bridges including construction, repair, maintenance, snow removal and supervision of township roads. We maintain both Rockton and Phillips cemeteries.

It is imperative that we attract the best leadership talent that our Township has to offer, for this reason I encourage you to support Ricarda Ricki Gomes and Vicky Ivy for Trustee. I am ready to accept the new challenges a Township Supervisor must react to in our fast-paced society. I will continue to be a strong advocate for the residents of Rockton Township.

We are putting a lot of attention into our Community Center, recently replacing the roof, landscaping, new sidewalks and numerous interior upgrades. We promote the use by area residents for their functions and gatherings.
I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve you. I would greatly appreciate your vote.
