Hometown Holiday Community Holiday Celebration is back home in Roscoe

Image

Hometown Holiday means free family fun in Roscoe on Saturday from 4:00-7:00 p.m., filled with activities, hot drinks, cookies, carols, a live DJ, kid's games and prizes at the Fire Station, ornament painting, letters to Santa, holiday family photos, live music from Hononegah High School and Roscoe Middle School at the Village Hall, and an appearance by Santa himself at Jim Blevins State Farm (in the cozy white log cabin). Join in on the caroling as we light the Community Holiday Tree at 6:00 pm. Look for a small version of the 1840s Robert Cross house parked on Main Street.

The event was canceled last year because of COVID-19, but this year the Village of Roscoe, elev815, and the Harlem Roscoe Fire Protection District are coordinating Christmas activities. Everyone is invited. The Village of Roscoe asks everyone to please wear a mask when indoors.

Harlem-Roscoe Firehouse #1, 10544 Main Street:

3R’s Learning Materials Center and others will be leading games for children, including balloon toss, ball drop, snowman bag toss, and prizes.

Rockton-Roscoe News will be publishing Christmas greetings.

Parents can take photos of their kids in a vintage sleigh in the entrance.

Get your picture taken at the photo station, with Christmas tree, ornaments, and a large nutcracker.

Mrs. Claus will be reading to children (enter and go to the right).

Food including hot cocoa, popcorn, bacon wraps, nachos, marshmallow chocolate, and 'smores kits. Perfectly Seasoned Catering will be involved.

Jim Blevins State Farm, 10684 Main Street:

The Community Christmas Tree will be lit at 6:00 p.m.

Carolers will enthusiastically share songs of the season.

Santa Claus will be in the building to speak with his many young fans, seated in a special chair.

Plus cookies and wassail - another hot sweet drink that isn't hot cocoa.

R&L Ceramics, 10697 Main Street:

The staff will be helping children paint Christmas ornaments at the R&L Ceramics shop.

Roscoe Village Hall, 10631 Main Street:

The Hononegah Community High School Jazz Band and Choir, as well as the Roscoe Middle School band,  will be making music at the Roscoe Village Hall.

Santa Claus will have a mailbox set up at the Village Hall, to expedite any requests that may be bound for the North Pole. Volunteers will provide special stationery and possible help with spelling.

Masks are required in the Village Hall.

Firehouse Pub, 10670 Main St:

The Firehouse Pub will be serving hot drinks from a tent.
