At last week's meeting, the Village of Roscoe Board of Trustees, acting as the Committee of the Whole, voted in favor of accepting a gift of land between McDonald Road and Swanson Road, adjacent to Porter Park. The decision will be finalized at the next board meeting.
Village Administrator Scott Sanders has been researching what it would take to establish a dog park on this triangular section of land, but it could have several uses. He said that the disc golf course at the adjacent Porter Park was extremely popular and maybe the Village could add a few holes to the donated land. Trustees also discussed putting a splash pad on the lot.
Sanders said a proper dog park might cost $100,000-125,000. Residents usually pay an annual fee to use them, with water and receptacles for waste disposal.
The property contains a box culvert and could someday be part of an extension of Willowbrook to Perryville.
