Fire departments respond to Dublin Drive house fire, family safe
Infiniti Hair Design in Rockton is collecting donations for the family.
Just after noon on Friday, Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters responded to a house fire on Dublin Dr. in the Emerald Ridge subdivision in Roscoe Township. When they arrived, the residents were safely outside and uninjured, but the 2-story home was already "fully involved with fire." Firefighters used the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System ("MABAS Box 12 to the 3rd Alarm was pulled") to summon help from surrounding fire departments. They needed not only more firefighters but more "tenders" to carry water. Teams from Rockton, South Beloit, Beloit, Cherry Valley, Capron, North Park, and Clinton responded.
UPDATE: The family of five appears to have lost everything in this fire, with nothing salvageable. In a severe house fire, anything that wasn't burned becomes unusable because of toxic smoke damage, and insurance can't pay immediately.
The family dog escaped, but the cat, named Todd, has not been located.
The family would be grateful for donations of clothes and shoes in the following sizes:
- Girl- 5-5T and shoe 10
- Woman- Jr Sm-Med and shoe 8.5
- Woman- Lg and shoe 10
- Woman- Lg and shoe 9
- Men- Lg and shoe 12
Starting Monday at 10:00 a.m., you can drop off donations of clothes, basic necessities, gift cards, and money at Infiniti Hair Design, 301 E. Main St., Rockton, where one of the family members works as a stylist.

The subdivision is west of I-90 and north of Burr Oak. Burr Oak had to be shut down while tenders shuttled water to the scene, filling up their tanks from the closest fire hydrant on 6th Street in Roscoe, about 7/10 mile away according to Google.
