November 17-18, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Everything you need or want for your holiday decorating, all at bargain prices. We offer new and gently used items including trees, garlands, ornaments, Santas and Snowmen, Nativities and angels, candles, centerpieces, books, puzzles, linens and more. On Saturday, December 2nd we will open in conjunction with the Rockton Christmas Walk Weekend and will also offer some baked goods along with reduced prices on many items. The South Beloit Historical Society will hold its annual holiday open house at the Bushnell-Wheeler home on Nov. 17-18-19..We will have the home decorated with Christmas trees in every room, full of holiday cheer. It is our early kick off of the holidays... We give free refreshments and tours of the 1856 home. Our barn has an addition with new Beloit displays. Live Music: Minimal at Louie's - Fri Nov 17 7:00 pm

7 - 10 p.m. You may have heard their afternoon shows, but Minimal rules the night too. The band has won at least 15 awards from the Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) organization, including Best New Act in 2015. The band played at Old Settlers Days in Rockton and at Roscoe's Fall Festival. No cover; however, donations are welcome and 100% matched by Louie’s, so it’s a win/win for everyone. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Enjoy an action-packed day of learning and exploring! We will take a history hike with metal detectors, practice fire starting, roast s’mores, and end with games including the tomahawk toss courtesy of Atwood Center. This event is best suited for ages seven and up. Parent supervision is optional, but required for children younger than seven. Please bring a sack lunch. Thanksgiving traditionally recalls a day of thankfulness observed by the Plymouth, MA colony in 1621. In 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that Thanksgiving Day should be observed each year in "humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience." In December 1941, as World War II had begun, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a joint resolution of Congress setting Thanksgiving Day as the fourth Thursday in November. [more details]
