What to know about South Beloit city council candidate Joyce Blade
Joyce Blade has lived in South Beloit for about 20 years and she has plans.
Joyce Blade is running for South Beloit City Council. She works as a material handler and has volunteered for many different organizations. She has lived in South Beloit for about 20 years. "I raised my daughter in this community and am now watching grandkids being raised here."
"Everyone always says they want to see change," Joyce says, "but you can't do that just by sitting back. I want to know and learn more about this beautiful city, so I choose to become active. I want to be part of South Beloit's growth."
Joyce is having a meet and greet, "very informal," on April 1, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m., at The Wheel, 529 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit IL.
Joyce's vision for South Beloit's future focuses especially on the children. "I would love to see more for our children. More resources, more outlets. They are our future, and we need to give something more to ensure that they are prepared." She talks about "expanding the bike path, rethinking the splash pad that was once talked about." She also wants to see more retail in South Beloit and wants to see Blackhawk Boulevard and Gardner Street beautified. "These roads are the gateway to us."
Joyce says, "The city has really come around in the past few years, and I would like to be there to help it grow.... I love our city, and love the idea of growth for us, while keeping the small town atmosphere.... I am always open for question, and hope everyone remembers to vote!"
