First Saturday Stewardship Day: Burr Oak Valley Preserve - Sat Sep 3 9:00 am

9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Meet across from Cross and Crown Lutheran Church. You can also volunteer each Thursday. The preserve is not open to the public otherwise. Play a role in tackling the invasive threats in the remnant prairies and woodlands of this preserve. Tasks include removing and controlling the non-native woody brush, prescribed burns and seed collection. Enjoy fresh air, exercise and the beauty of this special place while you work. [more details]

Free. Pianist Jim Hendricks has made sixteen piano recordings, and performed on ABC, CBS, TBN and PAX, and in approximately 1,400 Christian piano concerts in churches across the land. He has performed with jazz and pop legends such as Dave Brubeck, Della Reese, Rita Moreno, Tito Puente, Maynard Ferguson, Jack Jones, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval, John Davidson, Jon Faddis, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He teaches piano at the University of Chicago. As an actor, he appeared in three episodes of the hit TV series ER. He plays an estimated 55,000 notes per concert. [more details]
