South Beloit veterans organizations are joining forces to help save lives in the Stateline area. VFW Post 11019 – South Beloit, Illinois and South Beloit American Legion Holtz-Hirst Post 288 are partnering with the Rock River Valley Blood Center to host a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the South Beloit American Legion, 14879 Dorr Road, South Beloit, Illinois.

Blood donations are a critical need for hospitals and patients throughout the region. Every donation has the potential to help accident victims, patients battling cancer, children in need of treatment, and those facing serious medical emergencies. According to blood donation information provided by the Rock River Valley Blood Center, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, and one in seven hospitalized patients will need blood during their care.

“This is another way our veterans organizations can continue serving,” said representatives from the local VFW and American Legion. “We served our country, and now we continue serving our community. Giving blood is a simple act that can make a life-changing difference for someone else.”

Community members are encouraged to sign up in advance by scanning the QR code on the event flyer. Donors will also have a chance to win a $1,000 gas card as part of the summer blood donation promotion.

Anyone who would like more information or needs help signing up is welcome to stop by the South Beloit American Legion Post, which is open every afternoon until 9:00 p.m. Members will be available to help answer questions and point people in the right direction.

Questions may also be directed to the Rock River Valley Blood Center at 815-965-8751.

The VFW and American Legion invite the community to come together, roll up a sleeve, and help save lives. One donation can make a powerful difference.
