Hononegah Girls Flag Football Dominates at Round Lake

The Hononegah Indians delivered a couple statements on Saturday, rolling past Harvard 34‑6 at Round Lake before edging the host Panthers 7‑6 in a defensive slugfest that showcased the team’s grit and balance.

Game 1: Hononegah 34, Harvard 6

Hononegah’s offense came out firing. Quarterbacks Layla Demke and Taylor Passmore combined for pinpoint passing—Layla Demke 3‑of‑5 for 32 yards and a two‑point conversion, Taylor Passmore 3‑of‑3 for 35 yards and a one‑point conversion.
On the ground, Emma Heidenreich powered through defenders with 68 yards and two touchdowns, while Layla Demke added 24 yards and a score. Taylor Passmore chipped in 10 yards and another TD.
Harper Vanderheyden and Claire Vanschelven led the receiving corps, combining for 49 yards and multiple conversion points.

Defensively, the Indians were relentless. Addison Beilfuss turned defense into offense with five tackles, a pass breakup, and a 14‑yard interception return for a touchdown. Taitum Cates and Alexandria Huber each recorded sacks, while Harper Vanderheyden anchored the unit with 7.5 tackles and a Pass Breakup. Claire Vanschelven added a 24‑yard interception return, and Amaya Waters contributed seven tackles to seal the win.

Game 2: Hononegah 7, Round Lake 6

The nightcap was a grinder. Layla Demke battled through Round Lake’s pressure, finishing 5‑of‑14 for 25 yards with a touchdown and an interception. She also rushed 11 times for 48 yards and a one‑point conversion, while Emma Heidenreich added 57 yards on seven carries.
Hononegah’s lone receiving touchdown came from Alexandria Huber, who hauled in a three‑yard strike.

The defense again proved decisive. Addison Beilfuss snagged another interception, Taitum Cates notched 5.5 tackles and a sack, and Alexandria Huber added 4.5 tackles to keep Round Lake out of the end zone late.
