Update on Chemtool, sort of
Attorneys still hope to start sending payments in February.
An "Update on Settlement Distribution" was posted February 4, 2025 on the Chemtool Class Action Lawsuit website. It expands on what attorney Dan Flynn said last week.
The process of accurately reviewing claim forms, verifying those claim forms, and gathering the additional information required to begin distribution of the settlement funds has been complex and has required a team of people to complete. For example, we are currently confirming the 2022 Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) for several thousand property owner claimants. To collect each EAV, a PIN for each of the thousands of property owner claims is necessary. This requires tracking down each PIN, cross checking the addresses associated with those PINs and cross checking those PINs and addresses with the claimant identified on the claim forms. We hope to have every PIN for every property this week or next. Once we have the PINs, then we can get each EAV and only then can payment calculations be generated. Even then, for claimants who chose to receive their payment electronically, the payment information must be checked to guard against potential fraud. So, the bottom line is there are still several steps in the process, but we are getting closer. At this point, we hope that payments will begin in February.
Please know that we have a team of people working on this process every day. We understand people are waiting but it’s also important to understand that this is a complex process that we want completed correctly. We appreciate your continued patience.
