Strong spirits: bread of life

A lot of people are intrigued by Jesus but can't really swallow him.

Strong spirits: bread of life

Recently we were visiting our son and he made a loaf of homemade bread.  It looked fantastic.  It smelled amazing.  We sliced into it and slathered those slices with butter- even more enticing.  But until we actually put the bread in our mouth and chewed it and savored it and swallowed it, we were missing out.

Jesus said, "I am the bread of Life" (John 6:35,51).  You can find him attractive.  You can find him appealing.  You can know all about him and be able to discuss his life and ministry.  But until you take him in, until you engage with him, until you "taste and see that the Lord is good"  (Psalm 34:8), you are missing out.  You are allowing yourself to be satisfied by less than the reality of all he is.

A lot of people are intrigued by Jesus but can't really swallow him.  How about you?
