Stephen Pousardien worked with the National Mapping Division of the U.S. Geological Survey

Stephen Frederick Pousardien left this world on Feb 25, 2023. to be with his Lord and Savior. He died of natural causes at home. Steve was born October 12, 1940, in Shively, KY, the son of Felix and Dora (Wurster) Pousardien. He graduated from Morgan Township High School, Palmyra, IN, in 1958, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in 1963. Steve was a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
On graduation from Purdue, Steve entered the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served stateside, Germany, Vietnam, and Hawaii. He completed his Army career in the active reserves retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following active duty, Steve worked with the National Mapping Division of the U.S. Geological Survey. He thoroughly enjoyed his career of mapping and cartography with the Army and the National Mapping Division.

Steve was also an active member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and included service at churches in the Southeastern District such as Hope Lutheran, Manassas, VA; St. Paul's Lutheran, Falls Church, VA, and Our Savior Lutheran, Danville, KY. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Rockton, IL.
Steve married Carole Marie Fruchtenicht, June 6, 1964, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Louisville. He enjoyed life with this wonderful lady for 56 years until her death in 2021.
Survivors include his children, Stephen Jr. of Hedgesville, WV; Timothy (Jessica) of English, IN; and Ann Marie (Leonard) of Rockton, IL.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren: Nicholas and Hayley Pousardien of Stephens City, VA; Jesse and Autumn Pousardien of English, IN; CaroleAnn and Evelynn McLevige of Rockton, IL; and Destiny Young of Evansville, IN. Preceding him in death are his parents; Carole Marie, his wife of 56 years; Felix Joseph Jr., brother; and Dorothy Ann, sister.
Services will held March 2-3 in Louisville KY, at Owen Funeral Home, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
