Roscoe man dies in crash, only months after graduating from Hononegah
Jacob Torgeson worked with the after school program at Ledgewood School in Roscoe.
A 2023 Hononegah graduate was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Caledonia in Boone County. Jacob Torgeson of Roscoe was 18 years old.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office responded at 6:27 a.m. along with Boone County Fire District #3 Fire, but Torgeson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows that Torgeson was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound near the 1900 block of Hunter Road, east of Caledonia Road, early Monday morning, September 11, 2023. According to a statement from the Sheriff's Office, "The vehicle left the roadway on the south side of the road, crossed over the roadway into the ditch on the north side, and overturned. " The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Boone County Coroner's Office.
Torgeson studied history at Rock Valley College and worked on the after-school staff of Kinnikinnick Kids Care at Ledgewood School. Our reporter Alycia Dioneda Schneedle, whose family was close to him, will publish a tribute in the next few days.
