Though the most expensive home listing in Winnebago County, IL currently is a $1.2 million mansion on Spring Creek Road, many of the highest home prices are in Roscoe and Rockton. As of Nov. 19, 2024, according to Realtor.com,https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Winnebago-County_IL/overview the median sold home price in the county was $187,200. But in farthest northern Illinois, prices were much higher.

  • Rockton: $279.9K
  • South Beloit: $237.5K

Elsewhere in the country, prices were also lower than Roscoe or Rockton. Cherry Valley was highest at $282.5K while Rockford was $174K.

Because of COVID, the housing market became overheated but has moderated somewhat since then. It continues to be a seller's market, especially in Rockton, where home prices have gone down 4.2%. In Roscoe, home prices have gone up 9.7% in the past year. South Beloit increased 4.5%, where home inventory is more balanced than in Roscoe or Rockton.

The highest listed property in Winnebago County was 146 acres of commercial land, listed for $14,688,000, at the northwest corner of Willowbrook and Rockton Roads. The other businesses at that interaction are Wendy's and three large truck stops.
