One of the best parts of what I get to do at Rockton-Roscoe News is sit down with the people who are investing their time, energy, and resources into making our communities stronger. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a meeting of the Roscoe Business Alliance, and I walked away encouraged by what I saw.
The room wasn’t filled with people looking for personal recognition. It was filled with business owners, community leaders, and advocates who genuinely want Roscoe to succeed.
The conversation was led by Village Board trustee Mike Wright, who shared his vision for what can happen when local businesses come together with a common purpose. Instead of working independently, the Alliance aims to create a unified voice that can advocate for smart development, support economic growth, and help influence decisions that affect the future of Roscoe.
As our region prepares for opportunities connected to the future of Roscoe and other major developments taking shape nearby, there is tremendous potential for Roscoe businesses to be part of that momentum. Growth doesn’t just happen on its own. It requires planning, communication, and people willing to step up and participate.
That’s exactly where the Roscoe Business Alliance comes in.
Starting any new organization isn’t easy. Recruiting members, balancing different perspectives, and maintaining consistent engagement all present challenges. But those challenges are outweighed by the benefits of collaboration. When business owners share ideas and advocate together, they can identify solutions faster, support one another, and have a stronger impact on the future direction of the community.
The influence of a united business community shouldn’t be underestimated. From infrastructure discussions and community events to attracting new investment and supporting existing employers, organizations like the Roscoe Business Alliance can play an important role in helping local leaders understand the needs and priorities of the people creating jobs and serving customers every day.
Perhaps most importantly, this isn’t intended to be an exclusive club. The Alliance is actively looking to welcome more Roscoe businesses into the conversation. Whether you’ve been operating for decades or recently opened your doors, your experiences and ideas matter.
Communities thrive when people participate rather than watch from the sidelines.

I’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to Hidden Creek Estates Winery, along with its owner and outstanding staff, for graciously hosting the meeting. Their hospitality created the perfect setting for productive conversation and relationship-building among local business leaders.
Finally, thank you to the entire Roscoe Business Alliance team and everyone who attended for making me feel welcome. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm in the room and the willingness to work together for the betterment of the community.
From my perspective, this initiative has all the ingredients needed to make a lasting difference. The conversations are happening, the ideas are flowing, and the commitment is there. Now it’s time for even more businesses to pull up a chair and help write the next chapter of Roscoe’s story.
I’m looking forward to covering what comes next.
