House fire, death notices, weather heats up

- A home burned yesterday afternoon in the Prairie Ridge subdivision of Roscoe. WIFR reported a dozen fire trucks from several departments were attacking the residential fire on River View Trail, south of Gleasman Road. One person was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation at the four-bedroom brick home near Atwood Golf Course. A Spot Fund has been set up to help the family, at http://spot.fund/kg4h789sc. Danica Basile says, "A devastating fire claimed our home, leaving us with nothing but the clothes on our backs." Donations for the family can be dropped off at Whitman Post Elementary School, 1060 E Union St, Rockton, IL 61072, including:
