- After an apparent lightning strike which left Shirland School "without critical infrastructure required for student attendance," Dr. Ryan Wlodek says Shirland School will be closed today and the first day of school has been shifted to Thursday, August 21. He says on Facebook, "I will keep you up to date if there are any changes."
- On Sept. 11, US Petro is taking over the operation of both Fas Mart locations in Roscoe. They were previously managed by GPM.
