Turkeys from the pizzeria, death notices, Illinois 2 still slow

Pietro’s Pizzeria in Roscoe had truckloads of free frozen turkeys on Monday. They originally wanted to give away a thousand. They still had some left at closing time.

  • During the Thanksgiving weekend, IDOT says lane reductions will continue on Illinois 2 over the Rock River near Rockton. But in the rest of Winnebago County, all lanes closed for construction will reopen from 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, to minimize holiday travel disruption.
