- The Alabama-based owner of WIFR-TV plans to buy WREX-TV too, according to the Rock River Current. Though usually the FCC doesn't allow the same company to own two network stations in a city, they make a lot of exceptions. Gray Media executive Kevin Latek admits, "In some markets we have a single news team when we have a CBS or an NBC.” WIFR recently laid off chief meteorologist Mark Henderson after 22 years (but you can find his forecast below), morning anchor Andy Gannon has retired, and currently Gray Media isn't looking for replacements for them. Rockton-Roscoe News remains one of the only locally-run news outlets in Winnebago County.
