- Memorial Day parades are scheduled for Monday in Rockton, Roscoe and Beloit/South Beloit, starting at 9 a.m.
- As the Illinois General Assembly prepares to adjourn on Saturday, a House bill that would prohibit Hononegah High School from using a Native mascot, name, spear, or feathers never made it past the first step in the Illinois Senate: the Assignments committee. Hononegah Superintendent Michael Dugan told us, "Multiple versions of this bill have existed over the last few years, and we've avoided discussing hypotheticals." The spokesperson for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, who could approve Hononegah's mascot, did not reply to our email.
