Two Golden Apples, camperships, restroom mandate

A new week of news in Roscoe, Rockton, and South Beloit from your hometown daily digital newspaper Rockton-Roscoe News.
- Local elections are April 1, and we're gearing up this week to cover some of the issues at stake, such as partisanship, parents rights, faith and democracy, and budgeting.
- Hononegah Women’s Club (HWC), a social and philanthropic organization based in Rockton, is once again offering “camperships” to 6th - 11th grade students within the boundaries of Hononegah High School. Sports camps, including cheerleading, are not eligible, but academic, vocational, or service camps are, such as speech, leadership, fine arts, music, 4-H, or Scouts. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 14, 2025. For questions, contact Marci Taets at (815) 242-0090 or mktaets@charter.net.
- One of our readers was surprised to see tampons in a boys bathroom at Hononegah, but since 2021, Illinois law requires all school districts to provide free tampons in all student restrooms for grades 4 through 12.
