Today's news for Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit, from the award-winning Rockton-Roscoe News.

- Depending on the weather, work for replacement of the Prairie Hill Road bridge over the Rock River is scheduled to start on Monday February 2, 2026 on Prairie Hill Road between IL Route 2 (Blackhawk Boulevard) and South Bluff Road, in the vicinity of the Village of Rockton and the City of South Beloit. The duration of the work and road closure is dependent on the weather but the Winnebago County Highway Department anticipates it will be completed by the end of November, 2026. . While it is closed to traffic, local traffic will have access on either side of the bridge. Please use caution in construction zones and plan to use alternate routes.
- Dylan Beatty, an Eagle Scout candidate with Rockford Scout Troop 14, is restoring a project area at Kieselburg Forest Preserve in Roscoe by removing invasive species and brush, adding to the success of native flora and fauna.
