Two paloozas, public swim, no drive in movie

Friday's news from Rockton, Roscoe and South Beloit from Rockton-Roscoe News, including events for the weekend.
- This Saturday you can swim at The Ledges Pool from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. for $10 and you don't have to be a member. And if you decide to join for the 2026 season, your admissions fee for Community Day, Saturday, Aug. 9, will be deducted; in fact, the rest of the 2025 season will be free too. The pool is at 7063 McCurry Road in Roscoe.
- The owners of The Drive 815 have announced, "After much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Drive 815 early for the 2025 movie season." Immediately canceled: this weekend's films at Rockton Athletic Fields, The King of Kings and Sonic 3. They add, "Please be patient as we take this time to reevaluate the highs and the lows of our first season, plan the solutions, and chart a path forward."
- The Board of Education of Rockton School District 140 will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Rockton Grade School Music Room, located at 1050 East Union Street, Rockton, IL 61072. The purpose of the hearing is to gather public input on a proposed E-Learning Program. If approved, this program would allow students to receive instruction electronically on days when they are not physically in school, as an alternative to using emergency days. The E-Learning Program is permitted under Public Act 101-0012 and, if adopted, would be in effect for a period of three years.
