- Two local businesses announced on Thursday that they will no longer be serving up their specialties in Roscoe. We will be following up with more comments from civic and business leaders.
- Whiskey Hotel Barbecue says, “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the immediate and permanent closure of our Roscoe location... this was not our choice, our rent is current, and we were forced out by our landlord under threat of a lawsuit that I cannot afford to defend myself against.” They will continue catering events and operating their food truck. Stateline entrepreneur Erica Esselman has been leasing their commercial kitchen in Roscoe Village Center and says, “While I can’t share details yet due to legalities, Worth It Wellness With Erica is in that space to stay and is not going anywhere.“
- Velvet Robot Coffee Lab says, “Unfortunately we will be closing the Roscoe location. Our last day will be Sunday September 7th. We have loved being your neighborhood coffee shop and will miss y'all!… Just not enough business to sustain.“ Their Rockford location will remain open. Rockton coffee maker DeeDee Weiser responds, “This makes my heart hurt. So sad for small local shops to close.”
