The Indians captured the 2026 state crown at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights with a two‑day total of 12,800 pins, edging Lockport by 67 in one of the tightest finishes of the IHSA season. Senior anchor Lucas Wheeler set the tone on Championship Saturday with a momentum‑shifting 264, sparking the comeback that carried Hononegah to its first state title since 2019.

Freshman Ian Scharre delivered the weekend’s defining performance, storming past the field to win the individual state championship with a 240.9 average. His closing run — capped by a 279 — electrified the Hononegah crowd and cemented his place as one of the program’s next great talents.
