In the news: Fall Festival, high achievers, boho in Roscoe, village boards, and Homecoming

News Briefs: Sept. 8, 2022
Roscoe's Fall Festival is this weekend, Sept. 9-11.

A Roscoe tradition since 1910, Fall Festival this weekend means rides, food, music, and fun at Leland Park. The Roscoe Lions Club has organized the annual event for the past 52 years. We have the complete schedule for Friday through Sunday and will be adding a list of all the vendors, with menus and prices, once they get set up. We're hoping to get an interview with some of the musical artists, with special coverage of the parades (the kiddie parade and the big parade) and the vendors and community groups inside the business tent.

Four local students have been named to the Summer 2022 President's List at Southern New Hampshire University. Micah VanRavenswaay and Sarah Vardell of Rockton, and Erica Gonzales and Frank Oyston of Roscoe earned a grade point average of at least 3.7 out of 4.0 in their online degree programs.

Our senior correspondent Jean Seegers recently visited Synergy Collective, a fairly new and very boho business on Main Street Roscoe. She says it was like taking a step back to the 1970s. Jean covered their grand opening in April as well.

The Villages of Rockton and Roscoe held board meetings on Tuesday. We'll have reports later this week.
