In the news: opening bids, historic Roscoe women, free scholarships, $3.7 million
Roscoe Township has schedule changes: bids for the construction of the Roscoe Township Community Center will be opened at 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Township Offices. After the 2022 Budget Hearing at 7:00 p.m. that evening, they will hold a Special Meeting to review the bids. But approval/execution/signing/awarding of the bid will be laid over until a later date.
Sarah Snure Thompson is the third in a series of Roscoe women honored by the Roscoe Township Historical Society in celebration of International Women's Month (March). Tracy Schoonover Terry is posting brief biographies of some of our early women settlers on their Facebook group page. Others in the series are Mary Francis Fyler and Mahala Ruth Jenks Ransom.
Graduating seniors from Hononegah, Harlem or South Beloit high schools can apply for a $500 Elev815 scholarship. They will be granting a total of eight scholarships this year for students who plan to go to a trade school, vocational school, community college, or university. The application deadline is March 31, 2022.
