In the news: Rockton repairs, Roscoe churches, Book Club, Rockton Fire awards
At their April 5 meeting, the Village of Rockton will consider several equipment repairs, such as cleaning a digester and replacing a blower at the sewer plant, repairing the pool bath house, improving the Stone Ridge storm sewer, and purchasing a butterfly valve for the pool pit and a boiler burner for the pool heater. The Village Board will also consider an intergovernmental agreement between the Village of Rockton, the Talcott Free Library District, and Rockton School District 140 for construction and maintenance of Story Walk at Settler’s Park. The Roscoe Township Historical Society's biography series for April will focus on Roscoe's early churches and ministers. The first installment, focusing on the churches, will be posted on Monday, April 4. Other biographies featured this month will include Reverends Quincy Dowd, Samuel Pillsbury, Theron Loomis and more.

We're working on stories for Tuesday's Village of Roscoe meeting, last week's Wagon Wheel presentation at the Rockton Township Historical Society, the No Fooling event on Hawick Street, the Story Walk ribbon cutting, the Great American Cleanup, opioid overdoses, and the upcoming primary elections.
The TFL Book Club will meet on Monday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. (where else) at Talcott Free Library, 101 E. Main Street in Rockton. The topic is Comedy.
The April issue of the official HCHS Today newsletter and the March 2022 issue of the student newspaper Hononegah Highlights Vol. 4, Issue 3 are out and ready for you to download and read. The staff of Hononegah Highlights is putting together a final art edition and the deadline for submissions from student artists, writers, and photographers is Friday, April 22.
We neglected to mention that the Rockton Fire Protection District held their annual awards banquet on Saturday, March 19 at the American Center in downtown Rockton. Several members were recognized for their commitment and dedicated service to the district and community. "It's an honor to be part of this great organization and our members are truly the ones who make our district what it is today. They really do a tremendous job and I'm proud of each of their accomplishments," said Fire Chief Kirk Wilson.
