Why did you decide to run?
My daughter and I moved to the district about four years ago. After a couple of years, I realized that communication with the school was lacking. I often felt like an outsider, unsure of where to turn for help or how to access the resources we needed.
I can’t tell you how many times teachers and staff reassured me—after reviewing my daughter’s assessments—that “it’s okay, all the kids are behind,” or that she was part of the “COVID times” and her entire class was struggling. After speaking with other parents, I found they had been told the same thing.
This experience led me to run for the school board. I am deeply invested in the success of our local schools—not only as a parent but as a community member who values strong education. Every child deserves access to a quality education in a supportive environment, and I want to help shape policies that benefit students, teachers, and families alike.
Tell us about your background and accomplishments that you bring to the table.
As a resident of Roscoe Village, I served village Trustee from 2015 to 2019. That experience was one of the most eye-opening of my life. I quickly learned that not everyone agrees with every decision made by the board, but I always made myself available to explain my votes and the reasoning behind them. It was a significant learning opportunity that deepened my commitment to supporting and engaging with the community.
I believe my experience in budgeting, policy making, and leadership will be valuable in guiding decision-making on the school board.
What do you hope to accomplish in this office in the future?
If elected, I will focus on continuously improving our educational programs, supporting our teachers and staff, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and strengthening parent-teacher involvement. I am committed to maintaining a safe school environment and providing a high-quality education that prepares students for the future.
Additionally, I will work to improve communication between the board, parents, and the community, ensuring that decisions are made with transparency and collaboration.
Why should people vote for you?
I believe I am just an average parent who is deeply committed to serving our district with a focus on what is best for our students. My goal is to be a strong advocate for families, educators, and students, ensuring that every decision prioritizes their success.
I will listen, engage, and work to make a positive impact on our schools.
