Joshua Ballard was appointed to the Hononegah School Board last November and is running for reelection. The four incumbents are running on a 1, 2, 3,4 ticket.
“In my five months on the board I have learned quite a bit. Seeing how the activities work, how the tax funds are being allocated. Hononegah is a place that is near and dear to my heart,” Ballard said.
Ballard grew up in the area and graduated from Hononegah in 2003.
“My wife and I moved back here 12 years ago when we wanted to start a family, knowing that Hononegah was the place we wanted our kids to eventually end up,” Ballard said.
“Hononegah is a great institution; it has been since my time there. It has grown in size, stature, and in accomplishments. The school is ranked number 1 in the Rockford metropolitan area. We have done a great job bringing up the facilities and making everything a little bit more modern to stay with the times while keeping the tax dollars and tax rates low.”
“We will try to do our best to keep in mind community needs, and keeping in mind we still have to keep our great faculty and students. We must continue to strive for excellence in both academic and athletic success,” Ballard said.
“The school board is a very important position. It is where our kids are going to be for four years of their education and we want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful. It is our job to make sure that it is facilitated. We are in charge of a lot of things, such as how funds are going to be allocated, what student groups are going to be doing, some of the curriculum activity, and most importantly, we are in charge of hiring a superintendent.”
Ballard is running to "keep Hononegah held to a higher standard for our current and future generations."
