Bob Geddeis has served four terms on the Hononegah School Board of Education. He is running again because he is adamant about the impact of an excellent education and its impact on a person’s success in life.

Hononegah was recently designated an “Exemplary” school by the Illinois State Board of Education. The school has consistently been rated the top high school in the region and one of the top schools in the state and the nation according to the U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey.

“I would like to think the current members of the board supporting the administration and staff along with our wonderful students made that happen,” Geddeis said. He added, “My vision is to maintain and continue to improve Hononegah so that it remains the model for other schools as well as a destination choice in attracting new families to the area.”

Geddeis serves on the board of directors of the Illinois School Board Association and represents local school boards across the North Central Illinois region. He also serves as the vice president of the Talcott Free Library board of trustees.

Geddeis has been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He is also currently involved with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Education and Manufacturing Connections (EMC) programs at Hononegah.

“These programs focus on preparing our students as they embark in pursuit of their career paths,” Geddeis said. “The EMC program focuses on careers in manufacturing and the trades with focus on connecting interested students in internships or apprenticeships with local companies.”

Geddeis has earned a BA in international relations from UW and an MBA in
international business from Arizona State’s Thunderbird School of Global
Business.

“My entire career has been in the international arena. I’ve lived in Europe and have traveled and/or conducted business in over 100 countries. My experiences will contribute toward an expansive knowledge of the needs for students to be prepared to compete in a global economy.”

Geddeis is currently retired from Greenlee Textron in Rockford as their director of
international sales.

He has two children. Geddeis enjoys reading, learning and the outdoors. "I also enjoy horseback riding and have two horses and several dogs all of which keep me grounded,” Geddeis said.

“I served for four years in the U.S. Navy. I attribute those years as piquing my
interest in foreign cultures, history and customs and ultimately led to my
career.”
