Scott and Steven Rodseth praised their father Mark as a wonderful family man. He loved spending time and making memories with his wife Gail, and their blended family.

Mark Lane Rodseth, age 65, passed away on January 6, 2023, at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

Mark was born in Chicago, IL on July 2, 1957, to Richard Rodseth and Anetia Kowalski.

He attended Elk Grove High School and was involved in many sports.  His was especially good at ice hockey.  He and his team won the Chicago Suburbs High School Championship in 1974.

Mark lived and worked in the Chicago suburbs in the 1980’s and 1990’s. During this time, he managed a chemical processing and packaging plant and later transitioned to a career in business consulting.

Mark moved to the Stateline area where he met and married his soulmate Gail Daer.

He enjoyed playing golf, reading, studying American and world history, and traveling.

He was an enthusiastic fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, White Sox, and of course, the Bears.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Gail, his sons Scott (Kristen) Rodseth and Steve Rodseth (Ash), Cassie Daer, Rob (Carol) Thor, and Aaron (Erin) Thor.

Grandchildren are Elise Rodseth, Emilia Rodseth, Hattie Rodseth, Elizabeth Thor, Aaron Thor Jr, Eva Thor, Mia Thor, Abigail Daer, Emiliana Thor, and Charlie Thor.

He is also survived by stepmother Lilian Rodseth; sisters Olivia Gillespie, Barbara Barnhouse, Jeanne Kellner, and Linda Abrams; and brothers Curt Kowalski and Guy John Kowalski.

Mark is predeceased by his father Richard Rodseth; mother Anetia Kowalski; stepfather Guy Kowalski ; and brother Kristian Rodseth.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Honquest Funeral Home, 11342 Main St, Roscoe, IL, followed by a celebration of life at the Rockton American Legion, 221 W. Main St, Rockton, IL.

Mark’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, IL in the summer of 2023.
